Johnson Center Life Coach
In-school Life Coaching is a cognitive behavioral program operated by New Justice Services through the Sidney Johnson Center of the Syracuse City School District. The Life Coach at the Johnson Center provides young people with support and guidance in making their life decisions regarding education, employment opportunities and personal choices. The goal of the Program is to stabilize students’ focus on their education so that they maintain attendance and avoid disciplinary interventions.
This Program is based upon the service delivery philosophy that young people need to see positive representatives from their own community present in their schools who can reinforce positive life direction and decision making.
The Life Coach Program provides students with educational programming on topics such as conflict resolution, decision making, setting priorities and self-identity, as well as one-on-one discussion on managing conflicts in their personal and educational lives.
